American
Heart Association (AHA) Training Center for BLS, ACLS and
PALS
AHEC serves as an AHA Training Center for healthcare
organizations in Athens, Gallia, and Vinton counties.
Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville, O’Bleness Memorial
Hospital, Holzer Medical Center, Ohio University’s WellWorks
program and the Family Health Care, Inc. in McArthur are
satellite agencies who are supported by the AHEC.
Basic Life Support (BLS)
The AHEC Training Center provides Basic Life Support (BLS.)
Basic Life Support refers to noninvasive assessments and
interventions used to treat victims of respiratory and/or
cardiovascular emergencies and stroke. This term has become
synonymous with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and can
include automated external defibrillation
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
The AHEC Training Center provides Advanced Cardiac Life
Support (ACLS.). ACLS is medical interventions used to treat
victims of respiratory and/or cardiac emergencies and
stroke. Including invasive techniques such as incubation and
administration of drugs,
Pediatric Life Support ( PALS)
The AHEC Training Center provides Pediatric Life Support
(PALS.) Advanced medical assessment and interventions used
to treat pediatric (child) victims of respiratory and/or
cardiovascular emergencies and stroke, including invasive
techniques such as intubations and drug administration.
Heart Saver
Heart Saver classes focus on CPR. This can include adult,
child and infant modules and can include the use of the
automated external defibrillator.
Community CPR
CPR classes are available to the community. Contact
