| Dr. Watson is involved with
the osteopathic educational process on many levels. He
serves as the Chief Academic Officer for the Centers for
Osteopathic Research and Education, overseeing the OPTI
functions for over 90 internships and residencies. He
lectures frequently in anatomy and surgical topics and
provides curricular support for the OU-COM faculty. He is an
examiner for the Commission on Osteopathic College
Accreditation and also serves as the Chairman for the
Council on Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institutes.
Dr. Watson was honored by the
osteopathic profession when they asked him to Chair the
inaugural Osteopathic Heritage Foundation Medical Education
Summit in January of 2006. This event was a profession-wide
planning meeting to bring together key osteopathic
educators, accreditation officials, learners and invited
public figures. Dr. Watson’s interests in testing,
assessment, outcomes and quality studies are central to his
work and investigations. He is an advocate for research
education, evidence-based medicine, and defined learning
outcomes for osteopathic medical education. |
