Sarah obtained her nursing diploma from Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1978 and graduated with honors from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1983. She has nursing experience in a variety of fields from public health and health promotion to self-management of chronic disease. Currently she is manager of clinical and community experiences for OU-COM. Her other skills and interests include curriculum development, public speaking, cross-cultural health care and pain management. She is a member of the Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals and the Ohio Arthritis Coalition and is a certified leader and national trainer for the Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program, the Arthritis Foundation Self Management Program, and the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program.  
   
   
In 2006, AHEC coordinated over 2,500 service learning hours that reached over 1,650 community
members in rural areas.
