CCE Assignments
The
CCE Administrative
Coordinator schedules all CCE's for both Year 1
and Year 2, CPC and PCC medical students. Medical students
will receive an email prior to the beginning of each quarter with
their assignments and relevant information. Assignments are
tracked by the Administrative Coordinator with a report of
student experiences and faculty CME credits available quarterly.
CCE's must be scheduled by the CCE Office to count toward
meeting graduation requirements.
Clinical Presentation Continuum Curriculum
Year 1 CPC students are assigned to complete
twelve (12) CCE’s during fall, winter and spring quarters.
These assignments will be a combination of clinical faculty
and community agency experiences.
Year 2 CPC students complete nine (9) CCE’s during
fall
and winter quarters; three (3) CCE's may be
available during spring quarter at the request of the
student. These assignments will be a combination of primary
care, specialty medicine and community agency experiences.
Patient Centered Continuum Curriculum
Year 1 PCC students complete eight (8)
CCE’s each quarter. Six CCE’s are assigned with
clinical faculty; two
CCE’s are with community agency preceptors.
Year 2 PCC medical students complete eight (8) CCE's
during fall and winter quarters and four (4) CCE's during
spring quarter, in a variety of clinical practice settings.
Community agency and clinical faculty assignments are
not interchangeable.
Important Note Regarding Incompletes
Students receive ample notification when an Incomplete is
given. It is the medical student’s responsibility to resolve
the Incomplete. Without resolution, the incomplete will turn into a grade of "F"
six weeks into the following quarter. A student with a
failing CCE grade is referred to the Committee on Student
Progress for follow up.
Optional CCE’s
Medical students may complete optional CCE’s during the
quarter to enhance their learning; it is strongly
recommended that these arrangements be made through
the CCE Administrative Assistant. An Optional CCE Evaluation
form will be provided and must be completed and turned into
the CCE Office.
Unscheduled Experiences
Students are encouraged to contact CCE Office before scheduling experiences on their own with
faculty to avoid conflicts with other trainees. The
student is responsible for contacting the Medical Education
Department in the hospital prior to an acute-care experience
outside CCE. Please see the statement on
Student Insurance Coverage for information about
scheduling experiences during the intervals between classes.
Please see the
Preclinical Summer Program Approval
form for
information about experiences during the summer between the
first and second year.
