Dress
CCE assignments are in a variety of settings, but there
are some basic guidelines to follow:
- A clinic-based CCE with a faculty typically requires
a short, white lab coat and your OU-COM student
identification badge. Professional style clothing and good
grooming are mandatory.
Please
see the
dress code
for clinical skills as outlined in the
syllabus.
- Several community agency sites prefer that you wear
your identification badge but NO white coat and NO
stethoscope.
Please read the
individual
agency
information
for instructions.
- Failure to comply with this dress code may result in a
“U” (unsatisfactory) for that particular clinical session;
faculty and community agency staff have the right to cancel experiences based on
inappropriate dress.

Attendance
As part of the clinical skills curriculum, attendance at
scheduled CCE assignments is mandatory. Failure to keep
scheduled assignments jeopardizes the CCE program and your
grade.
For more information about actions following unexcused
absences, please see the CPC Clinical Skills/PCC Clinical
Science Course syllabus.
You are strongly
encouraged to attend your CCE's as scheduled. A
student with an urgent need to change a scheduled CCE experience must inform the
Administrative
Coordinator forty-eight (48) working hours in
advance of the scheduled assignment. A student who misses a CCE
experience or reschedules less than forty-eight (48) working
hours prior to the assignment will be reported as an
unexcused absence to the CCE Program Director, Assistant
Dean for Preclinical Education and PCC
Director.
If at the last minute you are unable to keep a scheduled
CCE assignment, you are required to personally notify your
assigned faculty or agency. The phone numbers for clinical
faculty are listed in the
Clinical Page and information about community agency contact
persons is listed by agency in the
Community Page of this manual. All absences must be rescheduled and completed
before the end of the quarter; failure to do so will result
in an Incomplete (I) for the course. The CCE
Administrative Coordinator will reschedule the experience
and notify both the preceptor and the medical student.
Make-up CCE’s may be assigned during weekend or evening
hours. If a community agency experience is missed, it must
be made up with another community agency experience, not
with clinical faculty.
