Community Experiences

CCE’s are arranged with a variety of health care professionals and organizations in the community.  These experiences are considered part of the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) clinical training program.  Each agency listing contains specific information about the agency and the experience, including the goals and objectives, and is designed to augment the medical student’s knowledge of the other components of the curriculum.  Medical students are to read this information prior to visiting the site in order to maximize the impact of the CCE assignment.  The knowledge obtained may not be technical skills but focused on the development of psychosocial skills that are a mark of an exemplary physician.

The evaluation form for students to print and take with them to their community experiences is available here.

Community Agency Information & Evaluation Forms

The CCE Program works with community health care providers, who serve as preceptors for medical students, to create learning activities.  Community preceptors play an important role in clinical training development.  A medical student with questions or concerns about a community agency experience is encouraged to talk to the CCE Administrative Coordinator or Director of Predoctoral Education.

Community Agency Evaluation
Students will be submitting evaluations of community experiences electronically; a link to the drop-down menu is available on Blackboard.  Learning objectives for each experience are listed at the top of the form.  Completion of an electronic evaluation for each community CCE is required for awarding course credit.  Comments will be sent to the agency staff anonymously at the end of the academic year.
The Community Agency Evaluation form for agency staff to evaluate students is available here.  Please print it off and take it with you to your CCE.  A completed evaluation form signed by the instructor is required for awarding course credit.  Medical students are required to have the evaluation form completed and turned in no later than 1 (one) week after the experience with the following EXCEPTION:

If your CCE is scheduled during the last week of assigned CCE’s, you MUST turn in your evaluation form to the CCE Administrative Coordinator Grosvenor 228, immediately after the experience to receive course credit.
