Why spend your time in a low paying summer job when you could be gaining
valuable research experience or preparing yourself for the rigors of medical
school? OU-HCOM offers two summer experiences for students who are ready for
the challenge. Each program offers tuition waivers and stipends so you can
earn while you learn.

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF)
The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship provides a wide
variety of summer research opportunities for undergraduate
students interested in careers in medicine or biomedical
research. Participants in this program work in an active
research laboratory under the guidance of a faculty member.
The program is deliberately flexible, so that students may
combine work with other educational experiences. The goal of
the program is to expose students to the challenges,
excitement and satisfaction of research.
Summer Scholars
Summer 2013 application available now!
For more than 25 years, this rigorous six-week program has
provided an intensive and realistic introduction to the
first-year curriculum at OU-HCOM. In addition to traditional
medical school curricula taught by medical college faculty,
graduate students and upper-class medical students, the
program focuses on case-based problem solving and
small-group/team work. You’ll also benefit from special
lectures, clinical experiences, and study and time
management skill sessions in addition to workshops on
cultural competency and research methods.
