Students can begin submitting required financial aid forms in January. What happens next depends on when you submitted your forms and the general timeline of financial aid. As we receive your forms, we will log them into our financial aid system. You can check to see if we have received all of the required forms by logging onto Check Your Aid Link. If you have problems logging in please review these instructions.

You can continue to check this link to view the status and delivery of your financial aid package. If you have problems logging in please review these instructions.

In early March, we begin to certify loans. If all of your forms are submitted and complete, you can expect to receive an award letter about your loans from us before the end of March. The award letter will be delivered via e-mail to your Ohio University OAK account, so it is your responsibility to check your OAK e-mail on a regular basis. Many other important announcements will be sent to your OAK e-mail account so you should make it a habit to check it often. It is also important that you DO NOT set up your OAK e-mail account to forward to any other personal e-mail you may have (such as hotmail, yahoo, etc). Microsoft will not guarantee delivery of Ohio University OAK e-mail to your personal web based e-mail accounts.

It is our policy to certify loans for you at the maximum amount available. We will outline this amount in the award letter that we send and the award letter will tell you the steps that you need to take to decide how much of the loan to accept and then to direct you about how to complete the loan process.

Important Note - We do not award OU-HCOM Institutional Scholarships until June, so if you applied for a scholarship, don’t expect to hear whether you have been awarded a scholarship until late June. In late June, we will contact all students who applied for a scholarship to let them know the outcome of their scholarship application.

The links below can help provide more information about your financial aid package as well as other links.

Educational Budget – the student budget is one of the factors that determines the limit of your financial aid package. Click here to view the costs of education at OU-HCOM.

What are my options if I need more money? – for many students, the Stafford loans, with their annual limits, are not enough to cover the entire cost of education at OU-HCOM. For those students who need to borrow the maximum amount, click here to view other loan programs available.

Direct Deposit Form – each quarter, financial aid funds (loans & scholarships) are delivered by electronic funds transfer to the bursar’s office at Ohio University. These funds are used to pay your current quarter charges, which include tuition, fees, health insurance and other expenses (parking tickets, health center visits, etc). The remaining funds are mailed to you at the beginning of the quarter in the form of an “overage check” to be used for personal expenses (rent, food, transportation, books & equipment, etc). We highly recommend that you use this link to arrange to have your overage amount directly deposited into your personal banking account. Funds are direct deposited on a nightly basis so using direct deposit will insure that you receive you overage amount in the fasted possible time. Overage checks that are sent by mail are only sent on one day each week and can be misrouted if your address information is not correct.

Verification Information – some students are selected for a process called verification. If you are selected, we will contact you about what you need to do.

What Does Your Credit Say About You? – we strongly suggest that you access your credit report each year. For more information about why and how to do it click this link.

Ohio In-state Residency Information – click here for more information about what you need to do to become an in-state resident.
