OU-HCOM - Student Affairs

This page is designed to provide you with one place to go to apply for financial aid. Financing a medical education is an expensive proposition. Although the primary responsibility for paying for your medical education lies with you, the majority of the OU-HCOM student body relies on some form of financial aid to fund all or part of their educational costs. The process of applying for financial aid can be confusing and can vary from school to school. We are here to assist you with each step of the process.


Financial Aid Checklist

	Step 1:	Complete the FAFSA (Required for all students) Be sure to use the correct code for OU-HCOM, which is E00306 This is required to be eligible for all student loans and most of the scholarships Be sure to include your parents' financial information on the FAFSA if you are planning to apply for scholarships:
	Step 2:	Complete a Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) for the Federal Direct Loan program. (Required for Class of 2016 or a student who did not borrowed Stafford loans in 2011-12) When you log in you will prompted to select a school from the list of schools in the state of Ohio. We are listed as "College of Osteopathic Medicine" (without the word Ohio before it). Do not select Ohio University because that is the main campus promissory note.

	Step 3:	Complete the Stafford Loan Request Form (Required for all Students

	Step 4:	Complete the Entrance Interview- Part I "Entrance Counseling" (Required for Class of 2016 or a student who has not borrowed Stafford loans while attending OU-HCOM) Take approximately 20 minutes. Hint - print the confirmation sheet and keep it in case we do not receive the electronic notification
	Step 5:	Complete the Entrance Interview Part lI "Eye Opener" - (Required for Class of 2016 or a student who has not borrowed Stafford loans while attending OU-HCOM) This is a financial literacy exercise only and is not a request for Stafford loans. A personal identification number (PID) is required for this exercise. The admissions office should have these mailed to you by the end of April. If you haven't received your PID by May 2nd give the admissions office a call.
	Step 6:	Apply for OU-HCOM Institutional Scholarships and download the Instructions for completing the application (optional)

	Step 7:	Apply for Disadvantaged Scholarships & Loans This application will not be available until we have received federal funding. When federal funding is available we will let all student know when they can begin to apply for these funds. (optional)

Applying for Graduate PLUS loans This link to the Grad Plus loan is available tor the 2011-12 academic year. We will process Grad Plus Loans for the 2012-13 academic year starting in June.

Consider signing up for Direct Deposit To sign up for direct deposit, students will need their University Personal Identification Number (PID).

If you are a currently enrolled OU-HCOM student and already receive your financial aid overage checks by Direct Deposit, you do NOT have to complete this form again.
