CERTIFIED NURSE PRACTITIONER

QUALIFICATIONS: • Masters of Science degree & national board certification as a
  Certified Nurse Practitioner
• Valid Ohio license (in good standing) as an advanced practice
   nurse
• Proof of completion of an approved graduate level
   pharmacology course and certificate to prescribe
• Valid Ohio driver’s license
• 1-2 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner
• Excellent interpersonal skills & ability to use independent
   judgment
• Commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, staff &
   community members from diverse backgrounds

 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

The certified Nurse Practitioner, in collaboration with physician(s) and SCA, provides primary and preventive healthcare services in an outpatient setting for patients through all of the lifecycles (birth throughout geriatrics). Services include obtaining a health history, providing physical assessment, performing and/or evaluation of diagnostic testing. Evaluates and treats both chronic and acute episodic illnesses and minor injuries. Provides patient education in all aspects of the patient’s care. Coordinates clinical activities. Expand access of quality healthcare services to the communities of Southeastern Ohio by working as a team member of the Community Health Programs at OU-COM.
