Community Health Programs and Ohio
Athletics honor Adam Jolley
By Matt Bates
Sept. 22, 2009
The
Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic
Medicine (OU-HCOM), in conjunction with
Ohio University Athletics, announces its
first blood drive of the 2009-10 year,
taking place Monday and Tuesday Sept. 28
and 29. This year’s Welcome Back Blood
Drive honors Adam Jolley, 16, who died
this past summer as a result of an
automobile accident.
Adam,
son of OU-HCOM Accounting Specialist
Gregory Jolley and Kristina
Hoisington Jolley, had completed his
sophomore year at Alexander High School
and planned to attend Tri-County Joint
Vocational School this fall to study
auto mechanics.
The
blood drive will take place at the Ohio
University Convocation Center, Monday,
Sept. 28, noon to 6 p.m., and Tuesday,
Sept.29, 2-8 p.m.
Blood
donations are badly needed in Central
Ohio, as the local supply has dropped to
320 pints below sufficient levels in
September. Blood types most urgently
needed are O-negative, A-negative and
B-negative. However, all blood types are
always welcomed.
To help
bring attention to the drive, the
Columbus Blue Jackets and OhioHealth are
giving away prizes to donors, including
game tickets, one-hour massages, LCD TVs
and a ride on the Zamboni ice machine
during a Blue Jackets game.
In
addition to OU-HCOM and Ohio Athletics,
sponsors of the event include the
American Red Cross, OhioHealth and the
Columbus Blue Jackets.
Appointments to donate blood can be
scheduled by calling (740) 593-2274 or
by emailing donatebloodathens@yahoo.com.
