College celebrates opening of new research facility
Saturday, May 8, marks the beginning of a new chapter in research at OU-COM, with the grand opening of the new Academic & Research Center. If you have not done so, please RSVP to response@ohio.edu if you are planning on attending.
The program includes ribbon cuttings at the special donor tribute walls and named spaces, tours of the building, medical research presentations by OU-COM students, and remarks by Osteopathic Heritage Foundations President and CEO Richard Vincent and Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis.
OU-COM will highlight our significant research efforts in diabetes, cancer and other related diseases and future growth in the areas of research, clinical care and education. It is an important recognition of the generosity of the building’s benefactors, who made this facility possible.
In addition to the $10 million the Osteopathic Heritage Foundations donated to this project, our benefactors (many of who are OU-COM alumni) gave at unprecedented levels to name 27 spaces within the building, and many of them are expected to attend for ceremonial ribbon cuttings for these spaces.
The program begins at 10 a.m., and OU-COM students will be serving as “ambassadors” to guide visitors through the building. A light lunch will be available following the ceremonies.
