Trustees approve name change to OU-HCOM

The Ohio University Board of Trustees officially changed the name of the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine to the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) on Friday.

The name change recognizes the historic, transformative $105 million gift to the medical school from the Osteopathic Heritage Foundations announced in April.

The Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine becomes the fourth named college at Ohio University, joining the Russ College of Engineering, the Scripps College of Communication, and the Patton College of Education.

To read more, go to http://www.ohio.edu/compass/stories/10-11/6/oucom-name-change-2011.cfm.

When it comes time for you to order new stationary or business cards, please order as you normally would through University Print Resources. Please remember to change voice mail messages and e-mail signatures to reflect the new name.

The OU-HCOM Office of Communications will be working on an institution-wide visual branding/identity program, including the redesign of our “logo,” college seal, and identities for our centers, institutes and programs, among many other pieces. Additional information about the name change will be announced.

If you have questions, please do contact Karoline Lane, director of communication, at lanek@ohio.edu, 593-2261, or Marie Graham, associate director, graham@oucom.ohiou.edu, 593-2408.

RD RAP program graduates second class

The CORE’s Residency Directors’ Residency Administration Program (RD RAP) graduated its second class on June 18, after a two-day session that focused on leadership, administration and professional development.
The year-long fellowship certificate program is designed to provide Ohio residency directors with the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and skills to be effective and successful leaders of their programs and trainees.

The first year of the RD RAP was funded by grants from the CORE New Initiative Fund and Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital Foundation. Year two was funded solely by the CORE New Initiative Fund.

The participants in the second class represented four CORE hospitals and programs including family medicine, emergency medicine, orthopedic surgery, otorhinolarygology and podiatry. To read more, go to http://www.ohiocore.org/RDRAP2011.htm.
