College effort brightens holiday
for 75 children
Members of
Sigma Sigma Phi joined by
faculty, staff and other
students played Santa last week
by giving gifts to 75 Athens
County children as part of the
annual Athens County Children
Services' Giving Tree program.
The name
of a child provided by Children
Services was hung on a holiday
tree in the Office of Student
Affairs with the child's age and
what they wanted for Christmas.
"I had so much fun shopping for
my pick," said Amy
Seese, OMS II,
president of Sigma Sigma Phi.
OU-HCOM is
one of the larger organizations
to participate in the Giving
Tree Program, said Sherri
Oliver, public
relations/community events
coordinator for Children
Services, which collected gifts
for more than 1,400 Athens
County children this year. "It's
all about bringing some joy to
these kids," said Paul
Obeng, OMS II.
