Two reasons to check out Facebook
Keep up with Heritage College activities, events and more by "liking" our new Facebook page.
We recently surpassed 1,000 likes on our previous page, which we plan to discontinue later this year. Help us reach that same achievement on the page that reflects our new college name by liking us today!
In other news about Facebook, the Student Government Association has partnered with the Ohio Osteopathic Association (OOA) for a 50-Day Challenge. The challenge is simple: if OU-HCOM gets 1,000 people to "like" the OOA Facebook page in 50 days, the OOA will donate $500 to the Student Government Association! The challenge runs through Wednesday, Feb. 29, so make sure you like the OOA today!
TIP: Type "Ohio Osteopathic Association" into the search bar at the top of your homepage to find OOA. Then, simply click the button that says "like."

Grijalva receives outstanding alumnus award
Mario Grijalva, Ph.D., associate professor biomedical sciences and director of the Tropical Disease Institute, recently received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the interdisciplinary program of Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) in the College of Arts and Sciences at Ohio University.
Grijalva first came to the MCB program from the Catholic University in Quito, Ecuador in 1992. He studied in the laboratory of Edwin Rowland, Ph.D., associate professor of microbiology, receiving his doctorate in 1997. After leaving Ohio University, Mario took a post-doctoral position at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta Georgia.
In 1999, he returned to Ohio University, where his work as a member of OU-HCOM has involved the groundbreaking study of the basic immunological mechanisms of pathology caused by experimental Trypanosoma cruzi infection in mice; the study of the biology and epidemiology of Chagas disease in Ecuador and in the United States; and the improvement of the safety of the blood supply in developing countries.
Congratulations Dr. Grijalva!

With semester change comes new class times
Be prepared to keep an eye on the clock when we switch to semesters--after the transition, all OU-HCOM classes will start on the hour.
While the change creates standard and easier start times, OU-HCOM classes will continue to utilize time slots of 50 minute increments. Meanwhile, the university will hold 55- and 110- minute-long classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 80- and 110-minute long classes, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Both the college and the university will continue to maintain 10-minute breaks in between classes for faculty, staff and students to travel to their next class. For more on Q2S, visit www. oucom.ohiou.edu/Q2S.
