Faculty: Deadline approaching for RSAF mentors

OU-HCOM is recruiting faculty members interested in becoming mentors for this year's Research and Scholarly Advancement Fellowship (RSAF).

The deadline to submit project descriptions and RSAF mentor/program information is Monday, Jan. 16. Please note that application does not guarantee placement of a fellow and that due to the switch from quarters to semesters, this year's program will be shorter than normal. It will take place from June 11 to Aug. 10.

For information and details on submitting a project description, contact Jessica Wingett, CPS/CAP, manager of the Office of Research and Grants, at 740.593.2336.

Mark your calendars... Semesters are coming!

Want to know how the OMS I and OMS II academic calendar will look after the switch from quarters to semesters next year? The Q2S website now provides a downloadable PDF schedule with this information. The document's middle column shows each week of the year, with CPC and PCC curricula displayed on either side. Download it to learn:

  • The timing of block sequences and facilitation and group changes,
  • How the OU-HCOM schedule aligns with the university's semester calendar, and
  • When fall term begins (hint: about two weeks earlier in the semesters system than the quarters system).

Please direct questions to Angie Mowrer, director of preclinical education, at 740.597.1566.

Have an item for the SAAO/OMM auction?

Items are still being collected for this year's SAAO/OMM Club Auction taking place Thursday, Jan. 12, at 6 p.m. in Irvine 194. Proceeds from the event will help send students to the national AAO convention.

Donated items so far include dinners with faculty, OMM and acupuncture treatments, an OMM table and baked goods. Donations may include old and new items, textbooks or even instructional lessons in a field of your expertise. Items may be left with any officer, the OMM fellows, or Mark Loudin, multi-media producer/director in Irvine 194.

It's Student Expo time!

Registration for the Ohio University Student Research and Creative Activity Expo opens Wednesday, Feb. 1, and closes Sunday, March 18. Students must enroll online to participate in this year's event, which will be held 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 3, at the Convocation Center.

Participation is open to all undergraduate, graduate and medical students, as well as postdoctoral fellows, on the Athens and regional campuses. Posters, exhibits, performances, film screenings and other presentation formats are welcome.

Awards will be given for the best presentations in each category: $200 (first prize) and $100 (second prize). Categories are limited to no more than 12 presentations and are assigned by discipline.

The Student Expo is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Creative Activity and Dean of the Graduate College, Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, Office of the President, and the University Libraries.
