this unique,
six-week medical school immersion
experience.

Students are
able to apply
on-line or they can download the
application packet. All
recommendation letter and transcripts need

Deadlines
March 1, 2013 is
the deadline for all Summer Scholars
application materials – including the
faculty letters of recommendation.
Program Dates
Summer Scholars
will begin on Monday, June 3, 2013 and will
conclude on Wednesday, July 10, 2013.
Program
Eligibility

disadvantaged status (economic
or educational). Students
will be considered educationally
disadvantaged if neither parent
has completed a bachelors
degree or higher.

Underrepresented minority is
defined as racial or ethnic
populations who are
underrepresented in the
designated health profession
discipline relative to the
number of individuals who are
members of the population
involved. This definition would
include Black or African
American, American Indian or
Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian
or Other Pacific Islander,
Hispanic or Latino, and any
Asian American other than
Chinese, Filipino, Japanese,
Korean, Asian Indian or Thai.

Benefits
- Summer Scholars will provide a realistic
view as to what medical school will be like in terms of basic science content and other
non-cognitive areas.
- Eligible
students will have a guaranteed interview
for a spot in the 2014 entering class.
- Students
are reimbursed for travel costs to and from
the program; room, board and program
materials are provided; and students will
receive a modest living stipend.
- Summer
Scholars participants will be taught by
current medical school faculty and
upper-level medical students.
