Special Notes:
You are required
to call the agency the day before your CCE, during business
hours, to confirm that you are coming. They may have
special instructions for you at that time. When calling,
ask for Ms. Newberry and leave your home phone number in the
event of last minute changes.
If you will be unable to attend the CCE, 48
working hours advance notice must be given to Rosemary Butcher to
reschedule the experience.
Please report promptly at 8:00 am. If
you will arrive EVEN a few minutes late, please
call the agency contact person to explain. When reporting to the
agency, please ask for Ms. Newberry at the desk.

Instructors:
To be assigned at time of CCE.
Specific CCE Goals:
- Understand the purpose
and practice of home health care.
- Recognize the services
available to physicians caring for patients in the home
setting.
Objectives/Activities:
By participating in this CCE assignment,
medical students will:
- Observe the use of the
problem-oriented medical record in the home care setting.
- Discuss with preceptor
the current patient’s problems and interventions designed to
meet those needs.
- Observe the care
administered by the home health nurse in the home
environment and/or assist with basic patient physical
assessment procedures such as vital signs, heart and lung
auscultation.
- Discuss with preceptor
the need for follow-up services and referrals.
- Complete the attached
caregiver and environmental
assessments
designed to identify
services available to homebound persons.
Equipment Needed for Activity:
Stethoscope
Dress:
White lab jacket and identification badge.
Please wear professional casual clothes, no blue jeans or
tennis shoes.
Transportation:
Required, as you may need to drive your own
car to home visits.
Responsibilities of the Medical Student:
- While on agency
property, medical students will conform to all applicable
policies and procedures of the agency.
- Medical students will
exercise confidentiality with regard to all patient and/or
staff information gained during the clinical experiences.
Directions:
From OU-COM, turn right on South Shafer
Street. Turn LEFT onto West Union Street. Turn RIGHT at
Larry’s Dawg House onto Herrold Avenue. The agency is
located at the end of this dead-end street.
