Special Notes:
If you will be unable to
attend the CCE, 48 working hours advance notice must be given to
the CCE office to reschedule the experience. If you will be arriving even a few minutes
late, please call the agency contact person to explain.
You are REQUIRED
to call Deb Sechkar no later than 4:00 PM the MONDAY before your
assigned
CCE to CONFIRM YOUR
ATTENDANCE or the CCE will be
canceled and must be made up.
Instructors:

Specific CCE Goals:
Understand the hospice
philosophy of caring for the dying person.
Observe the emotional,
physical and familial dynamics of a terminal illness.
Objectives:
By participating in this
CCE assignment, medical students will:

Review literature on
hospice and identify the roles of the hospice team,
including services provided, costs and client stipulations.
·
Identify the stages of
death and dying typically manifested in persons with
terminal illness.
·
Explain the use of
medications, side effects and dosages needed for relieving
and managing pain.
Equipment Needed for
Activity: Stethoscope
Dress: White lab jacket and
identification badge. Please wear professional casual
clothes, no blue jeans or tennis shoes.
Transportation Required, as you may
need to drive your own car to home visits.
Responsibilities of
the Medical Student:
The patients you are
visiting may be immuno-compromised, so if you have a
communicable disease please consider rescheduling your
appointment.
While on agency
property, medical students will conform to all applicable
policies and procedures of the agency.
Medical students will
exercise confidentiality with regard to all patient and/or
staff information gained during the experience.
Medical students are
financially responsible for any illnesses, injuries, or
other health problems they may incur during their clinical
experience.
Directions:
From OU-COM, turn RIGHT
onto Shafer Street. At the light, turn LEFT onto West Union
Street. Turn RIGHT at Larry’s Dawg House onto Herrold
Avenue. The agency is located at the end of this dead-end
street.
