Hospital is a 199-bed, not-for-profit hospital that is
served by more than 90 physicians representing over 37
medical specialties. Together with the hospital’s 1,200
other staff members, they form a team that provides a high
level of care in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Specific CCE Goals:
Gain an understanding of the dynamics of a hospital-based
Center for Wound Healing.
Understand the assessment procedures for wounds.
Outline strategies used to prevent developing wounds for
different underlying diseases.
Identify different types of dressing used to treat wounds.
Discuss, observe and assist in the provision of
comprehensive wound management to patients with chronic,
non-healing wounds due to a variety of underlying causes.
Objectives/Activities:
By participating in this assignment, medical students will be able to:
Describe the physician’s, nurse’s and podiatrist’s role in
wound prevention and
treatment.
Assist in the assessment and treatment of various kinds of
wounds
Interview patients undergoing treatment in the Center.
Assist in educating patients with various kinds of wounds.
Equipment Needed for Activity:
None
Dress:
White lab jacket and
identification badge. Please wear professional casual
clothes, no blue jeans or tennis shoes.
Responsibilities of
the Medical Student:
· While on agency
property, medical students will conform to all applicable
policies and procedures of the agency.
· Medical students will
exercise confidentiality with regard to all patient
and/staff information gained during the clinical experience.
Directions:
Take SR 50/US 7 to Marietta, OH. After
crossing the bridge, turn left
at the 2nd light onto 3rd St. Turn right onto Matthew St.
(just past the only intersection with a traffic light on 3rd
St.). Go to the top of the hill. Park in the parking
garage - the Center for Wound Healing is on the
first floor.
