Specific CCE Goals:
Gain knowledge of the inter-disciplinary treatment of pulmonary patients.

Understand exercise and respiratory prescriptions for pulmonary patients.

Describe the normal & abnormal physiologic responses to exercise in COPD patients.

Objectives/Activities:
By participating in this assignment, medical students will be able to:

Gain knowledge of the inter-disciplinary treatment of pulmonary patients, and the roles of exercise physiologists, nurses,

registered dietitian, respiratory therapists and health psychologists.

Write a sample exercise prescription for pulmonary patients.                                                        

Describe the normal & abnormal physiologic responses to exercise in COPD patients.

Equipment Needed for Activity:
None

Dress:
White lab jacket and identification badge.  Please wear professional casual clothes, no blue jeans or tennis shoes.   

Responsibilities of the Medical Student:

·    While on agency property, medical students will conform to all applicable policies and procedures of the agency.

·    Medical students will exercise confidentiality with regard to all patient and/staff information gained during the clinical experience.

Directions:
Take SR 50/US 7 to Marietta, OH.  After crossing the bridge, turn left at the 2nd light onto 3rd St.  Turn right onto Matthew St. (just past the only intersection with a traffic light on 3rd St.).  Go to the top of the hill.  Park in the parking garage and go to the Wellness Center located inside the hospital.
