Please call the contact person if you will be even a few minutes late.  There are likely to be several of your classmates traveling to a CCE in Marietta on the same day at the same time; if you are interested in carpooling, please contact the CCE Office for their names.

Specific CCE Goals:
Gain an understanding of the dynamics of a hospital-based rehabilitation center.

Discuss the importance of the team approach to rehabilitation services.

Observe and assist with an assessment of a patient in a rehabilitation unit.

Discuss the treatments used in a rehabilitation center.

Objectives/Activities:
By participating in this assignment, medical students will be able to:

Describe the role of the physician and therapist in assessing and treating patients.                                       

Describe the importance of the team approach for provision of rehabilitation services

Discuss, observe and assist with treatment.                  

Interview patients receiving rehabilitation services.

Equipment Needed for Activity:
None

Dress:
White lab jacket and identification badge.  Please wear professional casual clothes, no blue jeans or tennis shoes.   

Responsibilities of the Medical Student:

·    While on agency property, medical students will conform to all applicable policies and procedures of the agency.

·    Medical students will exercise confidentiality with regard to all patient and/staff information gained during the clinical experience.

Directions

Take SR 50/US 7 to Marietta, OH.  After crossing the bridge, turn left at the 2nd light onto 3rd St.  Turn right onto Matthew St. (just past the only intersection with a traffic light on 3rd St.).  Go to the top of the hill.  Park in the parking garage  -  take the elevator from the parking garage to the in-patient rehabilitation unit.
