Medicine Agency Information
The Ohio Department of Mental Health Residency and Training
Grant places trainees from psychology (OU campus), medicine
(OU campus), and child psychiatry (The Cleveland Clinic)
with faculty mentors from these three disciplines in a
series of interactive interdisciplinary videoconferences for
case-based discussion of pertinent evidence-based practices.
OU-COM students also attend two hours of observation in the
Psychology and Social Work clinic. There is a short
reading
assignment and a
survey to complete prior to the first videoconference or
experience.

Specific CCE Goal:
Gain a
better understanding of children’s mental health issues and
the perspective of multiple disciplines involved in
providing optimum care.
Objectives/Activities:
By participating in this assignment, medical students
will be able to:
1. Review
an article assigned by the preceptor on a specific
children’s mental health issue.
2. Participate in a case-based videoconference and engage in
dialogue with students in other disciplines that explores
information from the article.
3. Observe patient care provided in an out-patient
psychology clinic.
4. Discuss the observation experience with the child
psychology preceptor.

Dress:
ID badge. Please
wear professional casual clothes, no blue jeans or tennis shoes and
no white lab coat.
Responsibilities of the medical student:
While on agency property, medical students will
conform to all applicable policies and procedures of the agency.
Medical students will exercise confidentiality with
regard to all patient and/staff information gained during the
clinical experience.

Hall is across Richland Avenue from Grosvenor Hall; the
Psychology and Social Work clinic is on the ground floor.
