The program utilizes standardized patients (SP) who are professionals trained to simulate medical and psychosocial situations in a believable, realistic manner. Standardized Patient Labs for students in both curricula are conducted in the Simulation Area located in Irvine Hall.  This area offers 12 fully equipped exam rooms with audio and videotaping capabilities.  Students are given the opportunity to develop proficiency in history taking, physical examination and interpersonal communication.

Clinical Skills Labs

In addition to Standardized Patient Labs, OU-COM offers a wide variety of general skills labs (such as suturing, ACLS and ENT labs) where students are provided a forum to learn specific physical examination skills in a group setting.
