The Community-Based Participatory Research Learning Community enters its third quarter, with continued support from the Office of Campus and Community Engagement and a recently awarded grant from the Department of Education. Designed to support faculty development and facilitate the development of effective community-university partnerships, the CBPR Learning Community offers an interactive, peer consultation model focused on building capacity for equitable partnership for research.

January 15, 2009 Developing Focus Group Moderator Guides

Margaret Hutzel, Voinovich School research associate, leads a discussion about the importance of well-developed scripts as an essential feature of focus group methods. This presentation will involve consultation to an IPAC project examining how mental health communications facilitate or inhibit decision to use mental health services.

January 29, 2009 Writing for the Second Audience (CANCELLED)

Judy Millesen, PhD leads a second round of discussion focusing on effective translation of an academic article for a practitioner audience. Consultation will focus on an article Karen Slovak has published.

February 12, 2009 An Overview of IRB

Presented by Rebecca Cale, A.A.B, C.I.P, Associate Director, Office of Research Compliance at Ohio University, this presentation will provide an overview of the functions of the IRB, and open discussion regarding inherent community-university partnerships for research.
