OU-HCOM Research Day 2007
We are excited to announce that this year nine Center of
Excellence students participated in OU-HCOM Research Day, and
three of the participants received awards for their posters and
abstracts.
Edwin Jackson and Sayo Oshogwmoh received the Best
Basic Science Poster Award for their research on
“The Effect of an Antioxidant Diet on Renal Function in the
Obese Type II diabetic Obese Zucker Rats.”
Guy Klein received the Best Clinical Science
Poster Award for his research on
“Non-operative Treatment of Spondylolysis and Grade I
Spondylolithesis in Children and Young Adults: A Meta –Analysis
of Observational Studies.”
The other COE participants presented posters in OU-HCOM Research
Day were Patrick Nduaguba, Lailah Issac, Merrian Brooks,
Elizabeth Gomes, David Theis, Michelle Wallen and Albert Saez.
Not only are COE students excelling in research at OU-HCOM, they
are also being recognized nationally. Kim Jackson
won the 2nd place abstract award for AOA's Bureau on
International Osteopathic Medical Education and Affairs (BIOMEA)
International Seminar poster competition. The title of her
research project is
"Nutrition Transition and Health Consequences among Kenyan
Elders".
Her research focused on the health and nutrition of Kenyan
elders and their ability to maintain high enough levels of body
fat to maintain survival during alternating feast and famine. |
