Bike Rodeo Pedals Into Athens May 10
(ATHENS, Ohio—April 21, 2014) Children throughout Athens County
are invited to learn about bicycle safety during the 13th annual
Athens Bike Rodeo, hosted by the Ohio University Heritage College of
Osteopathic Medicine. The free event will be held Saturday, May 10,
from 9 a.m. until noon at the Athens Community Center, rain or
During the bike rodeo, children can learn bicycle hand signals
and navigation techniques, have their bicycles inspected and
repaired, challenge themselves on a safety course and ride through
Safety Town. All children must be accompanied by an adult to
participate in the activities.
Two hundred free bike helmets will be given to participants on a
first-come, first-served basis, and all children who preregister
will be entered into a drawing for a new mountain bike. To be
entered into the raffle, email the child’s and parents’ names, the
child’s school, grade level, bike style, address, phone number and
e-mail address to
firstname.lastname@example.org before 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9.
