The Ohio University Heritage College of
Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) provides free:
- Breast and cervical health education and breast
and cervical cancer
screenings for uninsured and underinsured women
- Health education to high school girls about
breast and cervical cancer prevention and early
detection
Our services include routine Pap tests, clinical breast exams,
breast health education, and help with making
mammogram appointments and vouchers for free
mammograms. The program also provides patients with
referrals and follow-up appointments.
Clinical services are provided primarily by a
nurse practitioner in collaboration with physicians
from OU-HCOM. A registered nurse coordinates the
day-to-day activities of the program.
The program works in collaboration with local
health departments, health care providers, the
Ohio Breast and Cervical Cancer Project, local hospitals,
and other organizations that receive Komen grants.
