Hobbies or Interests

I enjoy oil painting during my spare time. I paint a variety of styles, including impressionistic, abstract, contemporary and realistic art. Presently, I am particularly interested in studying Georgia O’Keefe’s style of painting; however, I am always in complete awe of Monet’s works.

Favorite thing to do in Athens:

I enjoy walking along the bike path on cool, clear mornings. The entire region is absolutely beautiful and extremely inspiring for a painter.

Area of medicine you plan to practice:   I am interested in family practice and obstetrics and gynecology. However, my interests will probably change as I complete my rotations.

Alyssa's February Diary

February 12, 2003

6:20-7:30 am

Shower, coffee and out the door for class.

8:10—9:00

Dr. Bensler (our faculty radiologist) gave a lecture on Upper Respiratory Tract Imaging. He mainly discussed the utility of CTs, Xrays, and MRIs in diagnosis.

9:10-10:00

I enjoyed an entertaining lecture in the Pharmacologic Management of Respiratory Disorders—mainly drugs to treat turberculosis.  Dr. Wince has such a great sense of humor that he makes pharmacology enjoyable.

10:10- 12:00

OMM lab. Jason, of the OMM fellows taught some Counterstrain and LAR techniques to treat the shoulder girdle. OMM is usually a low stress lab, especially if you get to be the patient because you get free treatment from your colleages.

12:10—3:00

Lunch, study time.

3:10—5:10

CBL (Case based learning). This week, our two clinical cases involved acute sinusitis, and nasal bone fracture.

6:00—7:00

Shower, dinner, email.

7:30-11:00

Study time. I had to complete two problem sets (Pharmacology and Immunology) for tomorrow’s class.

11:30

Bedtime.
