Elizabeth's February Diary

Friday, February 13, 2004

6:45 am.       Wake up and get ready for this glorious day! (I am in a great mood because yesterday we got back the results from our cardiovascular exam and I did well).

7:45 am.        Get to school and copy handouts for the class… Each week we all get an “objective” and answer it, print it out, and exchange them.  This is an optional way to learn but it is better than answering all the questions yourself (there are like 500 for each exam).  My objective this week was “describe the lobar anatomy of the lungs and the bronchpulmonary segments and relate the lobar anatomy of the lungs to the location of lung sounds on the chest wall”.

8-9:30 am.     Class consisted of a pre-class assignment which was 25 questions on pharmacology.  We went over the answers in small groups and did an additional problem set on penicillins.

9:30-10 am      Check email, hang out with friends

10-11:30 am    Another pre-class assignment review of immunology and an in class problem set of immunology of the upper and lower respiratory tracts.

11:30-12 am    Objective group members exchange objectives.

12-1 pm        Osteopathic manipulation review session (optional).  It was a good overview of the last 5 weeks of lab.  Out practical exam is in 4 weeks where we have to perform the manipulations on each other in front of the instructors.

1-1:30 pm        Lunch and hang out with friends.

1:30-5 pm     Study objective I got from the exchange, go over this past weeks notes, look ahead to see what next week class schedule will be like

5-5:30 pm     Meet with Dr. Benseler.  I am doing an extracurricular activity on reading and  interpreting CAT scans, X-rays, and MRI’s.

5:30-6:30 pm   Drive home, make and eat dinner.

6:30- 9 pm     Study the objectives more and last weeks lecture, look up some of the objective on my own that I don’t understand.  Do some reading on anatomy.

9 pm             Done with school work!  I have a treadmill in my house so I ran 3 miles and did a bunch of stretches.  Then showered and watched a movie and hung out with my husband.

11pm            Bedtime  zzzzzzz

I did a lot of studying today, because I am going with my husband to Columbus Sat. and Sun. for a Valentines Day dinner, and to see my family.
