Dr. Sammons came to us from Concord, Ohio in
Northeast Ohio. She attended Ohio University where
she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s
degree in Business Administration in 1992 and then
later returned for her Master’s degree in Education
in 1996. After working as a child and adolescent
therapist for several years, Dr. Sammons chose to
return to school and graduated from Ohio
University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM)
in 2003 as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
During her time at OU-HCOM Dr. Sammons was awarded
several honors including, induction into Sigma Sigma
Phi, the osteopathic medical honorary society, and
was awarded Outstanding CORE Site Student and the
OB/GYN Outstanding Student. She went on to complete
her Internship and Dermatology Residency Program at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. As a
resident, Dr Sammons was named Intern/Resident of
the year by her peers two years in a row. Dr.
Sammons also served as the chief dermatology
resident her last year of training.

Dr. Sammons is on clinical staff at both Ohio
University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and
West Virginia’s School of Osteopathic Medicine. She
provides clinical dermatology lectures for medical
students at both schools and trains medical students
during their clinical rotations. Dr. Sammons has
also developed a bi-weekly dermatology lecture
series for students, interns, and residents that is
available for broadcast to each of the twelve
training hospitals affiliated with the CORE.

Dr. Sammons has also published reviews that can be
found in The Journal of the American Osteopathic
College of Dermatology. She has included
herself in several community functions that strive
to educate the public on sun safety and skin
cancers.

Dr. Sammons is devoted to the study and treatment of
all dermatologic diseases. She has a particular
interest in skin cancer and dermatologic surgery.
In addition, she provides numerous cosmetic services
including Botox, fillers, sclerotherapy, chemical
peels, and laser therapy.
