Highlights of 2003-2004:
The OU-COM
Geriatric Medicine Club was involved in many
activities during the 2003-2004 year.
We hosted a presentation on the Edinburgh
Tutorial; students who studied in Scotland
talked about the program and their experiences.
We visited local nursing homes and medical
students with musical talents played for the
residents. We also collected presents for the
residents and distributed them at Christmas.
We invited a speaker to talk about and
demonstrate OMM in the geriatric population.
A geriatrician was invited to one of our general
meetings to give an interesting case
presentation.
We hosted a Policy Puzzle on Medicare. The
speakers talked of the history of Medicare and
the challenges it faces today.
We organized and conducted a blood pressure
screening in a local community.
We hosted noon-time lectures entitled: “Falls in
Older People: A Systematic Approach to
Management” and “Culture and Medicine”.
