Through the O'Bleness Memorial Hospital Internship Program, interns attend the biweekly Geriatrics/Gerontology Seminar Series and gain experience working with the elderly, primarily during their family practice and internal medicine rotations. Elective rotations in geriatrics are available.

Within the O'Bleness Memorial Hospital Family Practice Residency Program, geriatric content is integrated throughout the residency curriculum in PGY 2 and PGY 3. All residents complete a three-month block rotation in geriatrics. During each week of this rotation, residents spend one-half day of ambulatory care in the geriatrics clinic with a geriatrician and one-half day at a nursing home with a geriatrician. Residents learn about the interdisciplinary team approach during team meetings, follow selected geriatric patients and do acute care visits. Residents also attend the biweekly Geriatrics/Gerontology Seminar Series held at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital.
