The summer Research & Scholarly Advancement Fellowship
Program is sponsored by the
Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. This line of funding is
specifically tailored for students who have successfully
completed their first
year at OU-HCOM. Research opportunities are available in

The Student Enhancement Awards, sponsored by the Ohio
University Council for Research, Scholarship and Creative
Activity, assists undergraduate, graduate, and
medical students, under the guidance of a faculty mentor, by
providing funds for research and presentation of their
research at professional conferences. The awards are based
on competitive research proposals and provide funding
($6,000 maximum) for up to one year. For more information

The Provost’s Undergraduate Research Fund awards up to
$1,500 for students conducting original research projects,
creative projects and scholarly work. The funds can be
applied to research related travel, materials or supplies.

The Summer Undergraduate
Research Fellowships (SURF), sponsored by the Ohio University
Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, provides an opportunity for
prospective medical student applicants to conduct
research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. In addition
to laboratory research, students attend weekly seminars and
present their findings at the end of the summer. A stipend
provided by the College of Osteopathic Medicine covers the
cost of room and board for 8 weeks during the summer. SURF
students also have the opportunity to apply for early

CORE Research Fund
provides up to $5,000 for a medical student in the CORE. For
