Students can arrange their own programs through church organizations, other universities, hospitals, American Medical Student Association, etc. This must be planned well in advance. The 4th year is the ideal time; rotations in the 3rd year can be made under special circumstances.

You will not receive any credit for participating in this experience. Also, you will NOT be covered under OU-HCOM malpractice insurance.

Please also contact Gillian Ice, PhD, MPH, Director of the Office of Global Health Programs, to let us know where you are going. Here are some travel tips that you might find useful as you prepare for your trip. If you would like to give a presentation to the OU-HCOM community once you return, we would be glad to help you with the arrangements.
