Technology is creating virtual communities of health-care providers and allied health-care services through the use of advanced telecommunications. These emerging virtual communities become possible only when relationships are forged by common purpose, traditional interpersonal relationships are built, and institutional cooperation exists. Technology provides an extremely powerful tool when appropriate resources are available.
