NEWS

Tropical Disease Institute and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention join forces

Because of the efforts of Tropical Disease Institute doctoral student Mauricio Lascano, TDI is conducting field research with the CDC in Ecuador related to a Bartonella bacilliformis infection in Manabi and Loja provinces. The bacterium causes Oroya fever, verruga peruana and Carrion disease, typically affecting children. Please see the story on the Tropical Disease Web site for more information.

Did you make the change — the password change?

Now that we’re in Daylight Savings Time, you — only faculty and staff using the Exchange/Outlook email system — will need to change your computer’s logon password. In case you deleted the email from John Brennan on how to do this, it’s the attachment in this email.

Faculty Development Tidbit: “VARY YOUR PRESENTATION STYLE”

“Try not to lecture for more than 20 minutes at a time. Break up your classes with other presentation techniques: group activities, videotapes, discussion, etc.”  Check out more ideas and resources through your FD website at http://www.oucom.ohiou.edu/fd/teachingtips.htm. If you have a great strategy that seems to always work, send it to me and I’ll include it in a future “Faculty Development Tidbit.” (All Faculty Development Tidbits courtesy of Steve Davis, Ph.D., director of faculty development.)
