·  Evidence of faculty or student support for the resource

Criteria for selection will include the following:

·  Items must be useful to first- and second-year students in the OU-COM curricula

·  Items must be an outright purchase — not an ongoing subscription or licensing agreement

·  Cost must not exceed $9,500

Please submit proposals to Bobbi Conliffe (conliffe@oucom.ohiou.edu or 3-2297).

Call for Abstracts

The Ohio Osteopathic Association and the CORE cordially invite you to submit an abstract for a research poster for the OOA and CORE 2008 Research Poster Exhibition and Competition. Students, interns, residents, faculty, medical administrators and practicing physicians are invited to participate in this year's event. Participants must present their own poster. Posters for the accepted abstracts will be judged at the 110th Annual Ohio Osteopathic Meeting & Scientific Seminar June 19–22. The poster exhibition will be held Saturday, June 21.

Abstract length should be no more than 250 words. The deadline for abstracts is March 28. Notification of acceptance is April 18. Information and resources can be found under the “Research” tab on the CORE Web site. Look under any category (Students and Future Residents, Interns and Residents, or Faculty) to find the link to research.

Abstracts may be submitted in two categories: 1) Biomedical/Clinical Research and 2) Single Case Study. Prizes will be awarded in each category. First prize is $1,000; second prize, $500. Please submit abstracts to Michael Weiser at weiser@ohio.edu by March 28.

Faculty Development Tidbit: “Learn and Use Student Names”

“Try to address students by name during teaching sessions — Learn as many as you can, and work on the rest.” Students care what you know when they know that you care about them, and one good way to prove it is to learn their names. Check out more ideas and resources through your FD Web site at http://www.oucom.ohiou.edu/fd/teachingtips.htm.

If you have a great strategy that seems to always work, send it to me, and I’ll include it in a future Faculty Development Tidbit. (All Faculty Development Tidbits courtesy of Steve Davis, Ph.D., director of faculty development.)
