Professional
Liability Insurance Coverage
Students who have
matriculated into the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-COM)
are covered by University Medical Associates’ professional liability
insurance under the following conditions:
-
When they are
currently enrolled. Enrollment is defined by Ohio University policy.
-
When not
enrolled, but participating in clinical activities sponsored by
recognized entities and approved in writing by the Associate Dean of
Pre-Doctoral Education. Examples include: Research and Scholarly
Advancement Fellowship; Ohio Department of Health programs, and Area
Health Education Center programs. A Non-enrolled Student Clinical
Activities Approval form will be available on-line.
General Liability
Coverage
While enrolled,
students’ clinical activities are also covered by Ohio University’s
general liability insurance. No general liability coverage is provided
to students who are not enrolled.
Non-enrolled
students who participate in non-approved clinical activities are not
covered by either professional liability insurance or general liability
insurance.
All matriculated
students will be asked to sign a document indicating that they have read
and understand this policy, and that they will notify clinicians of this
policy as appropriate.
