      A.   General

1.   Notification of all matters related to malpractice insurance litigation is sent to the Malpractice Administrator of COM.

2.   OU-COM malpractice insurance files are kept in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer.

3.  The Malpractice Administrator acts as liaison between the insured, the insurance carrier, and legal counsel assigned by the insurance carrier.

 

      B.  Student

 

The administrative staff in the office of the Centers for Osteopathic Research and Education (CORE) as well as Academic Affairs must be aware of a “registered” student’s location at all times throughout years 3 and 4 when participating in the usual clinical activities of a medical student with clinical status for the student to be covered by malpractice insurance. (See policy #2.11 for more detail on student coverage.)
