Ohio University Policies 91.003 (Computer and Network Use), 42.550 (Solicitation), and 42.001 (Mail Service) govern the use of computing resources, solicitations, and information dissemination.  The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) maintains its own technical systems for employees to conduct the missions of OU-HCOM.  The college applies the Ohio University policies, cited above to all of its technical systems.

Users (students, faculty, staff and affiliates) of the OU-HCOM technical systems are responsible for meeting the requirements of these policies.  Users who violate these policies are subject to disciplinary action.  OU-HCOM’s Interim Director of Medical Informatics (IDMI) is responsible for establishing, updating and monitoring adherence to these policies and procedures at OU-HCOM.

Of special emphasis is the importance guarding of the privacy of student and patient information.  Strict adherence to all governing statutes is required.

All computer hardware requests will be directed to the IDMI for approval.  The IDMI will issue addenda to this policy defining current procedures governing the specifics of computer use.  Given the rate of change in technology, these addenda will require periodic review and will be submitted to the Dean for approval.
