SPECIAL SUMMER SELECTION:

This policy provides a separate selection process during the summer to allow the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) to interview members of the Summer Scholars and Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Programs and select them for the class.

ELIGIBILITY:

Students who are participants in the above mentioned programs may be eligible, at the discretion of the Selections Committee, to be interviewed and considered for admission with the entering class which will matriculate that fall or with subsequent entering classes.  Accepted students from one of the summer programs may be placed in any position in the alternate list at the discretion of the Selection Committee.  Students interviewed and selected must meet College entrance requirements before matriculation, i.e., course requirements, MCAT’s, baccalaureate degree or three years of exceptional work at a regionally accredited college or university, and signed out-of-state contract if applicable.

PROCEDURE:

The Committee will use the materials filed by the applicant when applying for the respective summer program.

  1. Applicants file an application, letters of recommendation and a transcript.
  2. Out-of-state applicants will be required to sign the out-of-state contract.
  3. Applicants will be required to submit current MCAT scores.
  4. An interview day will be scheduled in late July.  Applicants will interview with members of the Student Selection Advisory Committee.  The full committee will then meet to accept, hold or reject the applicants.  Students will then be notified by letter through normal admissions procedures.
