The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) is staffed by two research nurses, Cammie Starner, R.N., C.C.R.C., and Lynn Petrik, R.N., B.S.N., along with Jay Shubrook, D.O., medical director.

The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) handles both phase III and IV investigator–initiated and corporate–sponsored trials. A corporate-sponsored trial is a study initiated by a drug company to test a drug’s efficacy for a particular condition. The sponsor company funds, designs and controls the study. An investigator-initiated trial is an investigation initiated by a physician, who designs and controls the study, usually seeking grant support to fund it.
