Clinical Contact Experience |
|
| |
|
The Clinical and Community
Experiences (CCE) Program is an integral part of
the clinical skills course for first-and second-year
students at OU-HCOM. The program is directed by
Robert Woodworth, DO, MPH and coordinated by Sarah
McGrew, BSN. The goals of the program are to:
- Involve medical students
in a variety of clinical environments and
medical practices.
- Provide medical students
with opportunities to interact with physicians,
nurses, other health care providers and patients
in various health care settings.
- Enhance medical student’s
awareness of the cultural, economic and social
issues that affect health care delivery and
health behavior.
- Support the development
of clinical and psychosocial skills relevant to
the course of study.
- Integrate knowledge
acquired at a CCE site with that acquired in the
other components of the curriculum.
- Reinforce the relevance
of knowledge, skills, and attitudes learned in
various components of the first two years of the
curriculum.

| Clinical and
Community Experience (CCE) assignments involve
working with physician preceptors and
community-based health care providers in a variety
of settings. Additional opportunities for Clinical
Contact Experience may be available during the
curricular breaks. CCEs may be scheduled for
evenings or weekends. SOME CCEs WILL REQUIRE
TRAVEL, SO RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION IS REQUIRED.
Dress requirements are the same as for other patient
contact experiences. |

| |
|
| All students
are required to have current immunizations to
participate in the CCE Program. It is each
individual student's responsibility to meet this
requirement. |
