Ohio University Hold Policy |
|
| |
|
| If you fail to
pay your tuition or other university fees (including
parking violations, Health Center charges,
housing costs, or any other university charge) a
HOLD will be placed on your account and you will not be able to
register for class. If a HOLD is placed on your
account and you are
not registered you will not be permitted to attend
class or clinical rotations until these matters
have been resolved. |
|
| |
| What are OU
fees? |
| |
|
| OU fees include,
but are not limited to tuition, residence hall and
meal plan fees, overdue books, parking tickets and
any Hudson Health Center fees. In short, any bill
issued by Ohio University that is not paid by the
time of pre-registration. A bill for any amount
could generate a "HOLD," which will cancel your
registration. |
| |
|
| * Note: Library
books must be returned, and fines must be paid in
person at the circulation desk at Alden
Library. |
| |
|
| Why is this
important to me? |
|
| |
|
| If you are not
registered as an OU-HCOM student, you will be unable
to obtain financial aid, grade reports, transcripts,
board scores, letters of recommendation, Health Center services, or any
other university services. |
| |
|
| An extremely
important penalty for financial aid recipients:
If you are NOT registered as a student you cannot
obtain an in-school deferment on your student loans.
Attending classes does not qualify you for an
in-school deferment. You must be registered to
qualify for a deferment. |
| |
|
| How can I
avoid this situation? |
|
| |
|
| Pay all OU fees
as they occur. If you are not sure whether you have
any unpaid bills that would cancel your
registration, call the Bursar's Office at (740)
593-4120. Act immediately if you find that you have
unpaid bills, as it can take up to one week (after
the bill has been paid) for the HOLD to be released. |
| |
|
| What should I
do if I have a HOLD on my registration? |
|
| |
|
| Follow the
instructions on the University Hold Notice to
release your HOLD. OU-COM Student Affairs does not
coordinate this. |
| |
|
| If a grade HOLD
is on your account, pay the balance at the Office of
the Cashier, Chubb Hall. The HOLD will be cleared
once payment has been received. |
| |
|
| If you receive a
Hold Notice it serves as a warning of possible legal
action in the form of collection proceedings. These
proceedings generally begin in 30 days after receipt
of a Hold Notice. Pay immediately at the Office of
the Cashier, Chubb Hall. The HOLD will be cleared
once payment has been received. If not resolved,
accounts will be referred to the Ohio Attorney
General for collection proceedings. |
