Primary Care
Associate Program

The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine currently has two Primary Care Associate programs:
  • Family Medicine,
  • Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM)

All three programs require the selected students to extend their pre-doctoral education twelve months, making the total time between matriculation and graduation five years.

Family Medicine and OMM Primary Care Associates are selected in Year II and do not undertake primary care associate duties until they complete Year III.

These programs address the basic components of medical education, clinical practice, and research, although the emphasis and extent of each component varies among programs. During the "term" of the associateships, OU-HCOM waives tuition, provides a stipend, awards academic credit during those periods devoted to Primary Care Associate activities, provides funding toward attendance at a minimum of one professional conference, and awards fellows a certificate of recognition upon graduation.
