OU-HCOM Study Space

Keep in mind that study space is a privilege based on students’ respect and care of the facilities. Study space at OU-HCOM is limited especially from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

OU-HCOM Study Space Rules

1. Turn off all lights and other power equipment when leaving.

2. Close all windows.

3.  Dispose of all trash in the proper receptacles.

4.  Erase chalk boards and white boards when possible. Do not throw away other's flip chart papers!

5.  Do not remove furniture from rooms. Return all furniture to its original placement before leaving.

6.  Allow the custodial staff access to do routine cleaning during informal study.  Budget and staffing cuts require the staff to make one attempt to clean the room each day.  Impeding this function may result in restricted use.

7.  Lock the door when you are the last person to leave.

8.  No talking in quiet study areas.

9.  Rooms are available for study space provided they are not in use for OU-HCOM curricular meetings or in use by staff and faculty.

10. Study space must be physically occupied by the students using it.

11.  If the you are absent from the room but your books are left there, the room will be considered  unoccupied and available for other students or staff to occupy. In these instances, your books will be moved off to the side of the room.

The college is NOT responsible for unattended personal items left in a study room.

Group Study Areas

1.  Study space is for use by both curriculums. Class year or curriculum is not a factor in use of  the space.

2.  Intended for two or more people for quiet discussion of class material.

3.  One person can be asked to leave if a group desires the room for study.

4.  One group cannot displace another group regardless of size. Negotiate sharing the space if possible.

5.  If you are studying alone, others may use the room to share the study space.

Undesignated Areas

May be used for group discussion or as quiet areas.  Use is determined by the preference of the first students to occupy the space.

Designated Areas

Classrooms and conference rooms are available when not scheduled for another purpose in accordance with the OU-HCOM room scheduling policy 6.02.
