Dear OU-COM students, faculty,
staff, and friends,
I am pleased to present to you a revised version of
the OU-COM Strategic Plan, available online at
http://www.oucom.ohiou.edu/StrategicPlan. The
Dean's Advisory Group and the nine
Issue Groups have been hard at work on the Plan
for the last six months. Thanks to all who have
contributed time and ideas. Major changes to the
Plan include:
- development of one or more specific measures to
gauge our progress toward, or achievement of, each
of the goals in the Plan. Issue #7: Curriculum Theme
includes both measures and specific action plans for
its six goals.
- a new issue, # 11: Clinical Education in the CORE
System.
- the College's new eight-point statement of
osteopathic philosophy at OU-COM, developed within
issue #1: Osteopathic Distinctiveness. This issue
includes new goals pertaining to research in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and to research
concerning the quality of D.O./patient interaction.
This updated Strategic Plan will be integral to the
OU-COM planning process for fiscal year 04-05 and
beyond. The Dean's Advisory Group will begin to
prioritize the Plan's issues and goals at an April 5
dinner meeting in preparation for 04-05 budget
planning. Please feel free to contact your unit head
or a Dean's Advisory Group member with comments or
questions.
