Mission:
Medical Students for Life is an
organization dedicated to upholding the dignity and value of
every human life. Through greater education, research, and
service activities, this organization aims at the:
protection of women and their unborn children, genuine
enhancement of women's health, and the promotion of an
appreciation for all human life.
Services Provided:
We are committed to educating future
physicians in the development of a strong and ethically
sound philosophy concerning abortion in order to strengthen
the educational process of parents and their approach to
this challenging decision.
We empower medical students to
become physician advocates for life by educating them about
the many options available to women in a crisis pregnancy,
and put them in contact with local pro-life physicians who
integrate their beliefs into their practice of medicine.
We are also committed to action in
the local community, both to further an understanding of
pro-life issues and to foster an environment that supports
women before, during, and after pregnancy.
Tentative Schedule for 2012-13:
Some topics that we plan to address
next year include: post-abortion syndrome, Pro-life vs.
Pro-choice discussion panel, link between abortion and
breast cancer, challenges of being a pro-life doctor.
We are currently are collaborating
with the National Students for Life Organization and will be
bring in one of their speaker for an informative lunch time
presentation. Also we will have opportunities for
volunteering at the Pregnancy Resource Center.
Future Fundraising Plans: Selling
Blades during orientation, selling tiny baby feet lapel pins
during organizational fair, bake good sales.
Activities: Walk for Life (PRC),
Club T-shirt design, volunteering at the Pregnancy Resource
Center, friendly athletic competitions with other OU-HCOM
organizations.
