Mission:
To foster and stimulate interest
among osteopathic medical students in the practice of
Pediatrics.
To cooperate with other
organizations having similar purposes either at other
osteopathic schools or at other locations.
To maintain the dignity of the
AMERICAN COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC PEDIATRICIANS (ACOP) and the
Osteopathic Medical Profession.
Services
Provided:
The OU-HCOM Pediatrics Club sponsors
visiting lecturers, Reach Out and Read at Parks Hall, and a
Little People’s Hospital each fall. In addition, we work
closely with the local schools and Athens County Board of
Developmental Disabilities by organizing and participating
in various wellness events, helping students at Beacon
School create a community garden, and presenting Generation
Rx- a program to educate middle school and high school
students about the dangers of prescription drug use.
Tentative
Schedule for 2012-13:
During immersion this summer, we
plan on having recruitment events to spark interest in
Pediatrics Club.
Throughout fall semester, we will
continue the program called Reach out and Read at Parks
Hall, hold various lectures pertaining to the pediatric
community.
During spring semester, we will
continue the Reach out and Read program at Parks Hall &
holding various lectures, and we also plan on collaborating
with other OU-HCOM clubs, such as the OMM, Family Practice
and Sports Medicine clubs, for joint events. We plan on
financing these events with part of the dues from new
members and blanket sales throughout the year.
Dues: $50 paid annually
